Is Maizen suitable for children?

Since Maizen is a really popular channel, there are many unofficial channels which copy them. A lot of the time the quality is questionable and these clones generally aren't suitable. The official channel is called Maizen.

Overall Rating

As a parent I really don't mind Maizen at all. The voice of the turtle can get annoying, but I've watched so much of it that it doesn't really bother me anymore. Pretty much all their videos are suitable for children. They focus on story-based telling and show you how to build complex buildings and landscapes. 

Minecraft can be a very complex game in terms of what you can build and Maizen often shows you how to create a lot of the more advanced things. I especially like this as I regularly play Minecraft with my daughter and she pretty much learned how to do all this kind of thing from them. You could say she even taught me how to play Minecraft. 

There is the occasional video which involves characters such as HuggyWuggy, or someone / thing which can come across as scary. I wouldn't let this put you off though. I enjoy a lot of Maizen's videos and no doubt your kids will too!

Suitability Rating

There's almost nothing on Maizen that is likely to offend, or cause trouble in your kids' lives. As I mentioned above, there are a few scary videos, but I'm talking scary to very young children here. Most of the time your kids will be fine. 

You'll usually be able to tell from the video thumbnail. Look out for HuggyWuggy, ToonCat or other somewhat scary looking characters. Other than this, it's just building houses, escaping from places, making traps etc. All of which you and your kids can learn from. It's educational in this sense too. 

Annoyance Rating

For me, Maizen only scores a 2/5 on the annoyance scale, with 5 being unbearably annoying. By far and large the most annoying thing about this channel is Mikey's (the turtle) voice. It's really high pitched and whiney and can really grind your gears. That said, I've gotten used to it over time, I'm talking years here though. It's unlikely your children will find it annoying. To begin with it could be a channel you listen to in the background when you're getting other stuff done.

"I like the adventures they go on and because it's Minecraft. Sometimes they are scary." - Short and sweet!
