Is Preston suitable for children?

Preston is known for his Minecraft videos, he also has several other channels such as PrestonPlayz and PrestonReacts.

Overall Rating

Can be insanely annoying, especially with his Minecraft videos. However in terms of suitability there’s nothing much negative to say. As he’s got older, his content is less annoying and the production value has also increased. 

As a parent you’ll hate him, your kids will be the opposite. My daughter loves him. His Minecraft videos are educational in a way as your kids can learn the game mechanics and how to build things by watching how he does it.

Suitability Rating

His Minecraft videos are generally fine, I’ve got no real complaints with them, so they should be fine for your kids to watch too. His other videos are quite the mixed bag, from challenges where he and his friends have to break / smash their way out of rooms to buying banned items from Amazon and reviewing them. These types of video, I’d say are more suited for the older kids 6-9. They can get a bit silly and shouty, but they are generally fine.

Annoyance Rating

If the thumbnails for some of his videos don’t make you mad, the “always on, never ending, big energy voice” will definitely get you. I actually remember watching a video of his where he reacts to Youtubers just as they were starting out and he said something to the tune of: “You can tell this was before he got his Youtuber voice”. If that’s what they call it, then they need to stop haha! 

His Minecraft videos are definitely the worst for this. It’s the “Youtuber voice” and constant quick cuts to another scene that really bug me. How anyone can keep their concentration is beyond me.

I’ve been rather critical so far but it’s not all bad. His other videos which aren’t focused around Minecraft, are less energetic and more palatable. 

My Daughter's Opinion

"I like that he's funny. I really hate that he does scary videos in Minecraft." I asked her what she meant by this and it turns out she means one video he turns an Iron Golem into a Blood Golem (probably some sort of game mod) and it goes around attacking the villagers and him. I guess what I thought was harmless, was actually scary for her!
