LankyBox is their main channel. They have a few more, one being LankBox World, which just looks like similar content to the main channel.
Overall Rating
Content is ok, it’s just silly, loud, shouty and annoying. Merch is heavily pushed via a subtle way - Expect your kids to want some plushies. Suitable for kids aged 6 - 9.
Suitability Rating
Content wise LankyBoxis a bit of a mixed bag. I’d say they are suitable for kids aged 6 - 9 years old. Some of their videos feature scary games with jump scares and characters that younger kids would probably find scary.
The vast majority of their newer content is based around Roblox games. Poppy Playtime, Obbys etc. Just mainly roblox in general.
As far as I’m aware there’s no bad language or anything untowards. It’s just silly content really - pure entertainment for your kids, think of it as the ultra processed food of the child entertainment world, with very subtle, constant and likely effective advertising of all their merch. It’s junk content, but your kids will probably love it.
Annoyance Rating
Unbelievably annoying. The absolute definition of “YouTuber Voice” and to make things worse there’s two of them. Intros to videos are loud and shouty, with that fake sense of urgency “Oh my god guys!” Instant leave the room type of content. I find that the longer the video goes on for, the less shouting happens. I mean they must be exhausted having to talk like they do all the time.
Merchandise and Sponsorships
I’ve never seen a channel push their merch more than LankyBox does. It would seem like almost every video has some sort of plushie featured or another item, such as a backpack or a hoodie or a baseball cap. It’s both subtle but also very obvious. Justin and Adam will be holding a plushie throughout the entire video or wearing an item of clothing.
I would imagine this is VERY effective in getting your children to want one of them. Of course they have a website where you can buy everything.
The way they market stuff is kinda low key genius, however I find it way over the top. It’s too much. It’s almost subliminal, with the merch always being on screen, it’s constantly reinforcing the need / desire to have one. For this reason alone, I don’t like them.
