Is Blippi - Educational Videos for Kids suitable for children?

Blippi played a big part in my daughter's early years. I believe recently the original person who played Blippi has sold the channel to a company called Moonbug. The original Blippi did a phased handover to a new guy who looks quite different and that I coined as “fake Blippi”. All of a sudden there was this new guy and then the original Blippi would make an appearance every now and then until he didn’t anymore. The content is still the same, just a different guy doing it.

Overall Rating

Early learning content which is unlikely to upset anyone. There’s a good chance your kids will love him, parents not so much. However if you’re looking for something to entertain your kids for a bit while you go get stuff done, There’s not many people better than Blippi.

Suitability Rating

I’ve watched and listened to a lot of Blippi as my daughter was growing up. There’s literally nothing that I've seen that was unsuitable. His content is very focused on early learning, with videos about nature, animals, farms, playgrounds and soft play, colours, easter egg hunts, numbers, water parks etc. There’s even a few musicals too!

You can happily leave your kids to watch his stuff and you’ll probably want to as well given that he can be really annoying.

Annoyance Rating

It seems to be that the more your kid likes a Youtuber, the more annoying they tend to be. In this instance, it rings true. Both original and fake Blippi have this energy about them that is annoying. It’s not a “Youtuber voice” but it's high pitched and whiny - the voice babies like. That’s the best way to describe it. I personally don’t like it, but you might be different. Other than that there’s nothing remarkable.

Thankfully my daughter is past the Blippi stage so his videos never come on the TV anymore.
