Overall Rating
Generic content that should keep your older kids entertained. Best suited for 10 - 13 years and older. Annoyance wise, Jeremy Hutchins scores in the mid range, can be annoying.
Suitability Rating
Generally fine for 10 - 13 years and older, although I'd definitely recommend parental supervision if your kids fall into the 6 - 9 age range. Reason being that he and his crew say friggin a lot. I’m not sure if this is an acceptable American slang word, but a child in the UK would likely get told off for saying that in school.
Another point is that in some of his earlier videos the word “simp” gets used a lot which I don’t think is suitable for 6 - 9 year olds. Urban Dictionary is your friend for when you want to find out what slang words mean!
Content wise it's the same generic stuff that everyone of the same genre puts out. It’s like they’ve found some cookie cutter strategy which generates hundreds of thousands of views!
- Building secret rooms
- Buying items from Amazon
- Hide and seek
- Videos related to his crush
- Playing pranks of friends
Another point worth mentioning is that a lot of his content seems to be highly scripted with a lot of fake or staged reactions. I mean your kids probably won’t pick up on it, but as a parent it's obvious to see.
Annoyance Rating
So Jeremy Hutchins is quite annoying. The Youtuber voice is there but it’s quite toned down. He’s not really all that shouty, but in his more recent videos there’s like this fake urgency about everything, like tense, high tempo music, perhaps to make up for the lack of anything important going on.
I’d also say that a lot, if not everything is staged / fake / dramatised. The reactions from people are so obviously fake and I find that annoying too.
If you want an idea of how this guy started, check out his very first video. Its so raw and simple. Just him and a friend reacting to funny videos without all the rubbish that you get right now. Compare this to one of his latest videos and you can instantly see how it's evolved into the attention grabbing, quick cut culture of today.
Merchandise
I’m not really sure if this is a real thing or not, But I’ve heard on a few videos of Jeremy plugging his merch brand called Strat. I’ve not been able to find a website that looks official, just plenty of knock-off / impersonator ones. So I'd proceed with caution when buying anything. It seems to be t-shirts and hoodies that are for sale.
